Is there a correct name for coin collecting?

May 31, 2010 - 4:20 pm 5 Comments

I’m an avid coin collector and have countless coins from all countries and ages,
Is there a particular name used for this hobby, or is it simply known as coin collecting?

Thank you for your help :)

The scientific study of coins is known as "numismatics".

A numismatist is a coin collector

What is so special about oak leaf pennies? Do they have any numismatic value or are they simply rare?

Oak might be Canadian , wheat is the US from earlier years .
If it’s wheat , they are no longer made .
Some are face value but some , depending on year and mint can be over a $100 .

good luck

What was the lifestyle of a wealthy young woman in the 1930s?

May 31, 2010 - 4:20 pm 1 Comment

Imagine a young woman, around age 18, from a wealthy WASP family in the 1930s. Her family has been essentially uneffected by the stock market crash. What would she do with her time untill she married? Would she go to college, get a job? Volunteer? Thanks!

i work in a museum and i would say they became school teachers and or they went to school and that they enjoyed the fashions of their time.

What is the minimum number of coins that could have been in the trunk?

May 31, 2010 - 4:20 pm 2 Comments

Five pirates raid the ship of a wealthy bureaucrat and steal his trunk of gold pieces. By the time they get the trunk aboard, dusk has fallen, so they agree to split the gold the next morning.
But the pirates are all very greedy. During the night one of the pirates decides to take some of the gold pieces for himself. He sneaks to the trunk and divides the gold pieces into five equal piles, with one gold piece left over. He puts the gold piece in his pile, hides it, puts the other four piles back in the trunk, and sneaks back to bed.One by one, the remaining pirates do the same. They sneak to the trunk, divide the coins into five piles, with always one coin left over. Each pirate puts the gold coin in his own pile, hides it, and puts the remaining four piles back in the trunk.

Please simplify and show work.

Where can i exchange my US dollar coins for cash?

May 31, 2010 - 4:20 pm 5 Comments

i have a whole collection of US dollar coins & 50 cent coins . im wondering where i can exchange it for cash . im not sure if CoinStar or whatever its called excepts these coins .

p.s. theyre the very large coins , bigger than quarters & such .

If you’re talking about the older dollar coins, as you say the big ones and not the new Susan B. Anthony coins, they’re probably worth more than face value. Some can be worth quite a bit. Check with a coin shop or on-line. The link below is one site that you can check.

What is a website where I can find the values of any coin around the world for free?

May 31, 2010 - 4:20 pm 3 Comments

I have a few nice coins from around the world, and I was wondering of a site to go to to find out what their values are. Thanks!

There is such a website for almost all world coins from the past 150 years or so, and the website is based on the "Standard Catalog of World Coins." There are other websites for older coins. I hope that helps.

When will the nations CEO’s start spreading the wealth?

May 31, 2010 - 4:20 pm 14 Comments

Republicans say they HATE the concept of spreading the wealth. But what they mean is that they want to spread the wealth their way: by giving CEO’s a tax cut. So how are those Republican wealth spreaders doing?

- Did a CEO spread some of his wealth back to you lately?
- Did a CEO create a job for you recently?
- Are there CEO’s out there spreading something other than bonuses and layoff notices?

Clearly CEO’s have not used the tax cuts to create new jobs. Regardless of the economy the number one strategy of all corporations is to reduce labor costs either by cutting jobs or outsourcing. The fallacy of "trickle on" economics has been proven over and over.

How to calculate or know the resale value of a relatively new car?

May 31, 2010 - 4:20 pm 2 Comments

Hi,

I’m residing in Singapore, and needs some advice on the resale value of cars in S’pore. Normally, the resale value of a car that is 5years or more can be calculated easily from it’s remaining paper value (scrap value). But, how to know for a relatively new one that is just 1 to 3 years old? Surely it is more than the paper value, but how much more? I’m talking about a Jap car, 1.5L. Any advice… Thanks!

there is a blue book in singapoore..

How do I transfer shares from one demat account in Icici to my friend DP acc. in networth & what are charges?

May 31, 2010 - 4:20 pm 3 Comments

Go to your nearest ICICI branch and ask them for the form to transfer shares.

you need to have details from your friend about his dmat account no. etc. it will usually take 15-30 days.

I am not sure about ICICI bank charges.
