What is a website where I can find the values of any coin around the world for free?

May 31, 2010 - 4:20 pm 3 Comments

I have a few nice coins from around the world, and I was wondering of a site to go to to find out what their values are. Thanks!

There is such a website for almost all world coins from the past 150 years or so, and the website is based on the "Standard Catalog of World Coins." There are other websites for older coins. I hope that helps.

What is a good website for checking coin values?

May 29, 2010 - 1:21 am 4 Comments

I need to check very old coins

I would use these links as guides. The "Red Book" in the third link is the standard values reference. The last link is a beginners guide in grading coins as the condition/grade is a major factor in the value of coins. I hope that helps.

Where on the web do I look for old European coin values?

May 26, 2010 - 12:36 pm 3 Comments

I have coins from the 50’s, mostly, from Germany, France, Italy & Switzerland, in mint condition. Are they worth anything & where would I go to find out? I also have one mint condition 20 Deutsche Marks paper bill from the same time. Help me out on this – thanks!

I can lead you to at least two countries:

1) Germany:
Coins : http://sammler.com/muenzdb/index_english.html (use the left side menu)
Notes: http://sammler.com/coins/germanbanknotes_values.htm

2) Switzerland:

You also need to have basic knowledge on coin grading, and here’s a site to put you on the right track:

Postmasters of America Commemorative Coin Values?

May 20, 2010 - 8:48 am 2 Comments

I have 7 Postmaster of America Commemorative coints in their envelopes, each are first day of issue, and are sealed. Can someone find me the total value of all the coins put together? I’m planning on selling them soon. Thank you!

You do not have coins but medals. Like most tokens and medals of modern times, they do not have a high resale value. This type of item very rarely sells for anything near, what they originally cost. You are going to have to find the right person and he may just well be a stamp collector. You might try EBay and see what they are selling for. I have seen them as low as a couple of dollars each, to more than $10, but that has been over a period of a couple of years. I would guess the low price ones may have sold and the high priced ones, maybe not. I don’t think anyone out there can help you for there are no set values on this type item like there are true coins.

What is a good website to look at coin values?

May 16, 2010 - 5:24 pm 3 Comments

I want something easy to use. I would like to determine the values based on dates. I have tried using google, but I am not getting acceptable results.

I haven’t really found a good website for coin values. I would suggest taking 10-15 dollars and investing in the Red Book of Coin Values. The book includes elementary grading standards and the history behind the coins.
