Socialism can be a …
Socialism can be a wonderful thing if it is used properly, and other countries like Denmark and Sweden show that good forms of socialism work. It’s not a bad thing that other people make it out to be, and let’s face it, capitalism with hardly any restrictions is more trouble than it’s worth. The best thing that we could do is become a capitalist-socialist country, where both ideas are combined into one. After all, progress is learning from mistakes and correcting them, and we need correction.

Now, I know that …
Now, I know that WW2 was the biggest helper for giving people jobs to make things like guns and tanks, and I also know that a war would not be good now at all. However, we can get through this recession just like the Great Depression if we just let the big businesses fall, tax the rich heavily, and use that money to put people to work. We can also use tax money to create socialized education, universal healthcare, and better benefits of social security that cover unemployment up to 1 year.
May 29th, 2010 at 2:22 pm
We can put people …
We can put people to work by giving them jobs to pave roads, build bridges, make shoes, whatever we need in this country. That way, everyone has a job. Now, the rich may get angry and everything, but what can they do? Honestly, even if they shut down theie business, people will still have jobs, so it won’t have a large effect. It all makes since to do the same things that we did during the Great Depression because those things worked.
May 29th, 2010 at 2:22 pm
What we need to do …
What we need to do is we need to bring our jobs back overseas, and we need to make American and buy American so that we get money flowing into the economy again. We also need to make good quality products so that other countries buy American again as well. That way, we will have money flowing into our country and circulating in our country. Here’s where socialism comes in: We heavily tax the rich, we don’t tax the poor or middle class as much, and we use that money to put people to work.
May 29th, 2010 at 2:22 pm
Actually, socialism …
Actually, socialism isn’t a way towards fascism at all. There is a wide variety of types of socialism, including communism which isn’t the type I want anyway. When you think about it, we are in the same situation that we were in before the Great Depression; that being that people are afraid to spend money, and since they’re keeping it, people who work aren’t getting paid. Then workers are laid off, and then they don’t spend money. It’s a domino affect.
May 29th, 2010 at 2:22 pm
Also. The …
Also. The wealthiest 20% of Americans account for 70% of consumption (in terms of cash, not the commodities themselves). Only a retard would want to tax them heavily, so they get taxed, they have less disposable income, they spend less at bars, restaurants, shops and on holidays and people who work in the aforementioned businesses lose their jobs.
Lowering taxes is the way forward, it will help to stimulate the economy organically.

What gives the …
What gives the government the right to steal from anyone, rich or poor? Most rich people didn’t cause the recession either. If a business is failing its failing either because it has flawed business practices or its services/goods are not demand, we need to let them fail.
Socialism is a violent and coercive ideology anyway, akin to fascism.

Tax=theft. What gives the government the right to steal people’s money and spend it on other people?

I am a socialist, …
I am a socialist, and I think that socialism would be a wonderful thing. We should be taking more money from the rich and less from the poor and middle class. That’s what I call fair.

Sanders is a good man, I don’t like his politics, but he is an honest person.
May 29th, 2010 at 2:22 pm
Since when can tax …
Since when can tax laws be created in the Senate? The rich pay for the rest to work. Just because you make less than someone else, doesn’t mean they should pay. That is called socialism.
May 29th, 2010 at 2:22 pm
I still don’t …
I still don’t believe you need to tax the rich just because a bunch of them are corrupt greedy crooks. I do agree however that more money needs to be put into the pockets of deserving farmers. I live in the midwest, so I know exactly what you mean. But taxing the rich because of a few rotten apples is ludicrous. Poverty isn’t the result of the boss system, it’s because a lot of people don’t know how to live within their means, and people are picky when it comes to occupations and work.

Eat less. Walk more …
Eat less. Walk more. Sleep at least nine hours (a natural weight loss therapy is “healthy amount of sleep). Sleep deprivation cause the body to go into stress and stress (the unhealthy kind) “puff” one up like a “steroid” man. Consume less & SPEND LESS. Produce LESS toxic WASTE and LESS acid rain. Stop poisoning my favorite dish- FISH and spraying the FRUITS & veggies w/ chemicals from Halliburton. Who OWNS the chemical food industry, highway construction, dye and drug industry?

It is all these ” …
It is all these “chemical” industries and “clothing/fashion” that produce TON of toxins on earth & we BUY all these toxins that make us POOR & SICK (just b/c of “america is great” FAD- they (TV owned by MickeyMouse) FOOLED us for two generations. They are laughing all the way to the TROPCAL ISLAND while we have no means to clean “Katrina Mess”. They have AROMA THERAPY while we smell Diabetes from the SODA they sold & Alzheimer loss from the “aluminum SODA cans” & many more products-TOXIC.

“chadpron1″- …
“chadpron1″- actually the below answer for “ourearthhome” goes for you more than for him/her. YES, YES, must tax the rich & get the stolen money back to the FARMERS & food producers. You know waht – the “boss” system you said must be scrapped from the face of earth- they are the “vermins” that CREATE poverty (even for farmers- who supply us FOOD). When all is said & done we need “pesticide and chemical toxin free food” (not a whole lot to give a heart attack & diabetes)-JUST TO hane HEALTHY mind

The PEOPLE of USA cannot be duped w/ kid “economy” anymore. We are SICK of “buying, buying & having “garage” sale for your “mommy/daady” -sold us “trinkets” while abusing INDIAN kids and China. STOP this GLOBAL evil & consume LESS. SAVE the EARTH as you “cynically” indicate. You need a five year PhD course to understand the crook- your dad.

Tax the rich…wow. …
Tax the rich…wow. This man doesn’t know economics very well. If you tax the rich, It’s only going to trickle down to the middle class, and negatively affect us too. Let’s simplify it here. Say you work at a big company, And your boss, maybe a few secretaries above you etc. are rich…obviously. lets say the government decides to tax the rich, in turn your boss (and others above you) would immediately lose profit. in turn they’d pay you (the lower employee) less or stoop to outsourcing or worse
May 29th, 2010 at 2:22 pm
Yes and with plenty …
Yes and with plenty to spare. But of course it would not be a good idea to switch to this kind of taxation all at once. There are plenty of ways to change the existing income tax to go after income and gains from land transactions while shifting away from taxation on earned incomes from wages and real capital investment in productive and job creating assets. I would also want to see states switch their property taxes to land value taxes only. Google Prof. Mason Gaffney for a full discussion.
May 29th, 2010 at 2:22 pm
Do you really think …
Do you really think we can support a federal budget on land taxes alone?
May 29th, 2010 at 2:22 pm
Sanders doesn’t …
Sanders doesn’t understand or just won’t talk about the fact that the only form of taxation that will not be destructive is the tax on land value which, because it is created 100% by the community, does not penalize anything labor or capital does. Continuing the taxation of labor and capital in this environment will only make the problem worse and play into the legitimate complaints of conservatives about bad taxation. Taxation of community created land values is the only good and just tax.
